Unite against Climate Change!

On Monday morning, the AC group were the first group to go to the city to learn more about climate change. Climate change is something caused by Greenhouse gases and it makes the earth’s temperature rise.

The city council was really kind of offering us to go to the city where we could learn more about Climate change. At around 9:30 am my class and I left the school grounds and hoped on this humongous bus, there were led’s, curtains and there were even seat belts. We got to the city around 10 or 15 minutes later and dropped off at the fantastic Margaret Mahy Playground where we sadly were not allowed to play.

We met our lady from the City Council who was going to teach us all about climate change.

Something I learnt is that the thing that is affecting Ōtautahi the most is Transportation, because most people from Christchurch drive Petrol or Diesel vehicles. Another thing I learnt was Electricity is the one that is the thing that is causing the most trouble in the world because fossil fuels can create Greenhouse gases.

On the road we did a road check and we had to buddy up, I went with my friends Xavier and Tom. On our road check we found 42 Cars, 5 EV vehicles, 5 Busses, 5 Bikers and 70 pedestrians. Others had more or less than us but we have all the stuff we need.

My favourite part of the trip was eating food out of the Ōtakaro edible garden, I ate a Feijoa and some mint, it tasted nice and fresh.

Something that shocked me was the amount of people driving EV cars, it is %-1 I know! That is crazy! I mean I see a lot of people in EV cars like my dad and mum and some of their friends.

Something that I am now going to do to be more sustainable is to stop using so much electricity. Because electricity Is the 1st thing in the world causing climate change. If I am cold I wont use the heater just grab blankets, If I am hot I could open the window.

That is what I will do, what will you do?

Korokio Colour Wheel

Hello Everybody, welcome back to my blog and this week, Tumu Hub was learning about art! (Obviously, if you checked the labels)

We learnt about different things about art but in this post we have learned about the colour wheel. The colour wheel is a wheel with both primary and secondary colours. We have created one for ourselves and this is how it turned out.

We created this colour wheel in our team which is Korokio and we got the resources from the room we were in for maths, the middle room. I know it might look like there was not enough stuff in the middle space, but when you look in the cupboards, its paradise for creating the colour wheel we needed.

Anyways if we roll back a tiny tiny bit, you would have seen I said something about primary and secondary colours so I’m going to tell you what it is.

This is a colour wheel that shows which is a secondary and primary:

as you can see there are 3 types: primary, secondary and tertiary. Primary colours are red, blue and yellow which can be made into a whole bunch of colours. Secondary colours is a colour mixed up with two primary colours, and then a tertiary colour looks like a darker colour.

The most interesting thing about this activity was the making of the colour wheel, I mean to be fair we all were just grabbing and grabbing stuff out of the cupboards. But in the meantime, it was great teamwork happening.

Anyways, that’s it for me and I will see you later.

What resources can you use at home to make a colour wheel?

Tramping Pack

This term we have been learning about what it takes to survive in the Amazon Jungle. Our task was to make a digital Tramping Pack to put all of the things we would need. In my pack it includes some Easter eggs of my face, see if you can find it. In my pack it has a Camera tha never runs out of Batteries, A tent some food and water and a tranqulizer gun. Here is my final product, do you like it?

All about me

Kia Ora and welcome to my blog. Today I used Avatar Maker and World Cloud to help me make my Edublogs avatar. In Avatar Maker I attempted to try and recreate myself, it did not go so well… On the Word Cloud, I had to add words that matched my personality. Words you may spot are Monkeys, Philippines, Basketball and heaps more! I made it in the shape of a Basketball because that is my favourite sport.

Anyways I present to you my new and improved Edublogs avatar! I hope you like it! What are some of your interests? Goodbye bloggers and remember to never give up on your dreams!
