Some Geography facts I have learnt over this long weekend

Hello everybody. As you may know, we have a long weekend for Queen Elizabeth the Second’s memorial day. Over this time period I have been studying some Geographical facts about Europe and Asia.

Here are some Geographical facts I have learnt about Asia.

  1. The Mongol Empire was the second largest empire in history. It stretched from Korea all the way to Poland. (Very Big).
  2. Most of Russia is in Asia, but most people want Russia to be fully European since that capital is in Europe.
  3. North Korea and South Korea is smaller than New Zealand. I know, crazy right!
  4. Borneo is the 3rd largest island in the world behind Greenland and New Guinea.
  5. Did you know that Asia is the largest continent Population wise and Area!

Now here is the Geographical facts I learnt about Europe.

  1. Europe is home to Sweden, and Sweden has the most islands in the world. Not even I knew that!
  2. Somehow Europe is the most peaceful continent. (I do not understand because of Ukraine and Russia, The Balkans and the Greece and Turkey argument.
  3.  Europe is described as peninsulas of peninsulas.
  4. Did you know that Europe is homed to most Micro states. (Basically really small countries)
  5. There are ONLY 50 countries in Europe. I would have thought that there would have been more.

Well that is my blog for the day. I hope you have learnt many things today. Comment below 1 fact you learnt about each continent. Goodbye!

Greatness of the Geometry Brick!

Kia Ora katoa kōrua nau ko ngaku rangitaki. Hello everybody and welcome to my blog.

Today I will be showing you my geometry shaped brick. I chose to do a quadrilateral because it was a very simple and easy shape to do. A quadrilateral always needs to have 4 sides, 4 corners and 4 verticies.

Here is my brick.

What shape would you do if you did this?

A Depressing Month

So on Thursday 8th of September 2022, the world was hit with one of the worst news anyone could hear. Queen Elizabeth the second has sadly passed away peacefully in the well known Balmoral Castle. About 5 hours before her death they announced that the Royal family was worried about her health so they got her checked out, later then, they were right.

After that to show our respect, most countries of the world put their flag down to half mast as a sign of respect. Now that the Queen is no longer with us, she is now with her most beloved Prince Philip. Taking her place will be her eldest, Prince Charles the Third or should I say, King Charles the Third.

Well sadly we have more bad things to start off the month, it was officially the 21st year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that happened in the following locations. Twin Towers a.k.a The World Trade Centre. The Pentagon outside of Washington D.C and a fourth that crashed somewhere near Pennsylvania after the crew and passengers took over the hijackers controls.

Rest in peace for those who lost loved ones in 9/11, and rest in peace with the queen. This truly was a horrific start to the Month.

A horrific start to the week…

It actually snowed!

Kia Ora Y'all, you will not believe what happened this week. I will give you time to guess... IT SNOWED!

It has been a while since snow has come to Christchurch, last time it came was in 2011! That's the
The year I was born!

Fun fact about snow!
Snow forms when tiny ice crystals in clouds stick together to become snowflakes.
If enough crystals stick together, they'll become heavy enough to fall to the ground.
Snowflakes that descend through moist air that is slightly warmer than
0 °C will melt around the edges and stick together to produce big flakes.

When I woke up that day my phone was blowing up from my friends sending me snaps about
how snow is in their garden, I did not believe it but when I peeked through the window,
I absolutely busted out the door, like when Homer Simpson finds a stand selling
free donuts.

Then when I arrived at school my and my friends had a snowball fight, some kids also
made really big snowballs.

But unfortunately the snow all melted by about morning tea time, but other than the snow melting
it was absolutely amazing!

Anyways, This is the end of my blog post now.
See you guys later!

What would you do if you saw a bog patch of snow.
